HIV Prevention in Care – New Development in Research and Practice

Course Description

This course will review recent research findings in HIV prevention that emphasize the importance of antiretroviral treatment as a key element of community-level HIV prevention.  Exciting new developments in biomedical prevention approaches will be considered, including pre-exposure prophylaxis.  This course will be of interest to clinicians, program staff, and others who treat and interact with patients with or at risk for HIV/STD.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss recent research findings in HIV prevention.
  2. Understand the importance of antiretroviral treatment as a key element of community-level HIV prevention.
  3. List new developments in biomedical prevention for HIV.
