STI Update

Target Audience

Physicians, midlevel practitioners (PA, NP), nurses, and other health professionals who see patients with or at risk for sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Course Description

This course is offered as a 1+ hour, state-of-the-art update on current issues in STI diagnosis, treatment, and care.  Topics presented include recent developments in clinical care for syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, evidence-based strategies for STI/HIV prevention.  Clinical approaches to patient care are also considered.

Course Objectives

At the end of this program, students will be able to:

  • Discuss current approaches to syphilis diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
  • Recognize emerging patterns of antimicrobial resistance for gonorrhea.
  • Describe clinical presentation and patient management strategies for chlamydia.
  • Demonstrate innovative, evidence-based approaches STI clinical care and prevention.
